Newborn Baby Quilt Featuring Little Red Tortoise and Blackbird

Aisne Naomi Platt welcomes you to her shop, I like to work with patterned cotton fabrics, ribbons, trimmings, felt and buttons to create beautiful things to share.

This newborn baby quilt features the adorable little Red Tortoise and the friendly Blackbird. It has been handmade in my sewing room at home in Cornwall, UK. It is made from a mixture of 100% cotton and Poly/Cotton upper layer made up of squares stitched together, a 100% cotton underlayer and bias binding edging. The internal wadding fabric is made of polyester.

This quilt is ideal to use as a bed cover for a newborn baby’s bed, pram or as a knee blanket for a push-chair. Either way its a very special piece that can be loved and cherished and handed down from generation to generation to be treasured as a lovely family heirloom.

The quilt top is made up of squares featuring Little Red Tortoise and Blackbird, the background is pale grey. The blank fabric squares are pink with white polka dots and white with white polka dots. The inner layer is in a pure white cotton fabric. The bias-binding edging fabric is rose pink. The inner padding wadding is made from polyester which will keep the baby warm and snuggly.

The quilt measurements are approximately 58cm/22.5in wide and 76cm/30in long. Each square is approximately 8.5cm/3.5in sq.

I recommend washing at a medium temperature machine wash with a gentle spin and line or tumble dry.
