Upcycled Vintage Cotton Christening, Baptism or Baby Naming Day Outfit With Blue Satin Rosebud Detail
Aisne Naomi Platt welcomes you to her shop; I like to work with patterned cotton fabrics, ribbons, trimmings, felt and buttons to create beautiful things to share.
Everything is handmade or upcycled in my sewing room at home in Cornwall, UK.
This beautiful vintage christening gown or baby naming gown has been made of exceptionally fine cotton fabric with a finely stitched bodice and lace edging on the hem and cuffs.
It is so pretty it would be perfect for a traditional, vintage-style christening or baby naming day and could be kept as an heirloom piece for future generations.
The gown has been thoroughly washed and is completely intact. There were some minor rust marks that could not be removed by washing, therefore I have covered these marks with hand-stitched pearl sequins which have covered the marks and I have added more sequins in a random pattern that gives the main part of the gown a twinkly effect.
To enhance this beautiful gown I replaced the ties at the waist and neck with pretty pale blue stain ribbon ties and then handsewn pale blue satin rose buds to the neck and bodice line.
This gown is approximately 65cm/26inches long and would be suitable for a baby up to six months old, depending upon the size of the baby. Please contact me if you need additional measurements. I have photographed a soft-bodied doll wearing the gown for indication of the size, please note that the ties on the bodice can but adjusted by the ties for fitting.
I recommend washing it at a low-temperature machine or hand washing with a gentle spin and line dry. Do not tumble dry.
The doll is for display purposes only and is not for sale.
